LogOutScreenSaver is software designed to automatically log a user out after their session goes idle for an administrator defined time. Version 3 is completely customizable.

Unlike similar applications available for Mac OS X, LogOutScreenSaver logs users out as cleanly as possible. If your setup uses LogoutHooks, they will still be executed when the user is automatically logged out. The actual logout process is the same as if you chose to logout from the Apple menu, or Login Window... from the Fast User Switching menu, making this much more graceful then other scripts/programs out there. Other software uses the method of killing the loginwindow process. This can lead to corruption of your hard disk and frequent kernel panics. With LogOutScreenSaver, you will not encounter any of these problems.

LogOutScreenSaver 3 runs best on Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). LogOutScreenSaver is now Intel ready! It has been compiled as a Universal Binary so it can run natively on both PowerPC and Intel powered Apple computers.

Thanks to Mac OS 10.4 all (not all applications can take advantage of the auto-save feature) of your unsaved work can now be saved when LogOutScreenSaver logs you out!

Version 3 now includes two Apple Installer Packages that are created on-the-fly! One installer can install a LoginHook script which sets LogOutScreenSaver as the default screen saver for each user that logs into the system. This LoginHook script will also correct any of the user's ByHost preferences that have the wrong ethernet address in the file name.
The second installer can be used to install LogOutScreenSaver on any number of machines without having to configure each machine separately.
Both installers are built on-the-fly so your customized settings are included in the package.
